Shane Breen on top in Liverpool's New Years Eve Grand Prix
The start of the new year is celebrated in the saddle at the Liverpool international horse show. Just before the kick-off of 2019, the 1.60m CSI4* Grand Prix was conquered by Ireland's Shane Breen aboard his 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare, Golden Hawk. From the eight combinations at the start in the Jump-Off only three made a faultless finish.

Ireland's Breen and Tom De Craene's breeding product made a clear finish in 38.86 seconds. The pair was followed by local show jumping rider, Harriet Nuttall aboard the AES-gelding, Galway Bay Jed (Romanov). Great -Britain completed the stage as William Funnell placed third with over two seconds difference in the saddle of the Cevin Z-son, Billy Diamo.

Breen's compatriot, Conor Swail set the record time of 37.62 seconds. With one jumping fault, Swail and Vanessa Manis' 13-year-old Bon Ami-daughter, Flower followed in fourth while Holly Smith completed the top five aboard Hearts Destiny (Heart Trhob).
