The Grand Prix in Gijon to Niklaus Rutschi and Windsor XV
Switzerland's Niklaus Rutschi and Windsor XV (Karandasj x Wellington) took the win in Monday's five star Grand Prix in Gijon. The class concluded a long week of competition at the Spanish event, and the Grand Prix had 44 riders lined up to compete for the win. Five riders produced clear rounds in the second part of the competition, and Rutschi was the fastest of them aboard the 11 year old chestnut gelding stopping the clock on 53.23 seconds.

America's Ashlee Bond ended second on Chela LS (Chapultepec la Silla x Tlaloc la Silla), not too far behind Rutschi on a time of 53.79 seconds. A little bit further behind on 55.04 and in third was France's Kevin Staut on Estoy Aqui de Muze HDC (Malito de Reves x Kashmir van Schuttershof). The two last clears came from Marie Pellegrin Etter on Admirable (A Jungle Prince x Rhytmo) who ended fourth and from Pedro Veniss on Quabri de L Isle (Kannan x Socrate de Chivre) who ended fifth.
