Germany’s David Will won both the 2* Medium and Big Tour. In the morning he won the Medium Tour with Dieg’eau de Villee (SBS, Ugano Sitte x Cardento) and in the afternoon he saddled Forest Gump (OS, Forsyth x Feuerwerk) to fly to victory in an incredible speed in the Big Tour. When asked how and where in the course he took the lead David said that the answer all lays in the name of the horse. “I didn’t do anything speciaal, he is just incredibly fast. He may be small, but he has a big heart.” Will rides Forest Gump for one year and Cannes was one of the first competitions for the combination last year. Runner-up was Brasilian Marlon Modolo Zanotelli with J-Figyelem (BWP, Vingino x Animo) followed by Belgium’s Jos Verlooy with Vendome Palordet (SF, Kannan x Quat’sous). Runners-up in the Medium Tour was Holland’s Anne-Liza Makkinga and Go for It B (KWPN, Eldorado vd Zeshoek x Faldo). The USA’s Jennifer Gates finished in third place with Hermelien vd Hooghoeve (BWP, Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve x Thunder van de Zuuthoeve).
The Small Tour was won by the world’s number three rider, Harrie Smolders, with Celena VDL (KWPN, Mr Blue x Chin Chin).
CSI1*
The USA’s Laura Kraut won the CSI1* Big Tour (1.35m) with the eight-year-old KWPN gelding Galliano VM (Ukato x Vincenzo), with whom she won the 1* Grand Prix last week. Galliano was formerly ridden by Mathijs van Asten, but Laura bought the horse and is riding him for several months. “He is developing very well, but we still have to become a solid team. However, he is my kind of horse, small, fast and brave.” Catherine Pasmore (USA) finished runner-up with Dinant (KWPN, Numero Uno x H Voltaire). Holland’s Kim Emmen took third place with Geavanta-C (KWPN, Zambesi TN x Cassini II).
Holland’s Journy van Eerd won the Medium Tour (1.25m) with Knegt’s Glenn R (KWPN, Spartacus TN x Numero Uno).
The Small Tour (1.15m) was won by Kelly Suzanne Lasarow (GBR) and Inschallah van de Pikkerie (BWP, Quadrillo x Cardino).
