Update from the Australian Interschool Championships
Today marks the third day of competition at the national Interschool Championships with the best young riders from around the country gathering to compete in a range of disciplines including Dressage, Showjumping, Eventing and Combined Training at Werribee Equestrian Centre, Victoria.

Talented riders of varying experience come from all corners of Australia to compete at the Championships, some driving for days to make the journey. Today we spoke to Olivia Shore, a primary school student from Western Australia who has travelled, along with her family and teammates, for four days across the country to compete. In her first time competing at the Australian Interschool Championships, she has managed to be in the ribbons in both the 90cm showjumping and 80cm Combined Training. Aboard the beautiful Kalusho Maverick, Olivia said she was having a great time at Werribee and was excited to be here for the first time competing alongside her older sister Ella, who is also at the Championships competing in the Pre-Novice Eventing.

In contrast, it was New South Wales rider Sydney Evans’ sixth time riding at the Championships, competing in the Interschool Dressage with her stunning Dara Park Tequila Sunrise for the fifth time. The experienced pair placed second in yesterday’s Elementary Freestyle and hoped to place well in the Elementary this afternoon.

Today sees the conclusion of the Show Jumping and Eventing team and individual competitions, whilst tomorrow will conclude the Championships with a day of dressage followed by presentations and a closing ceremony. At the conclusion of tomorrow’s competition, the winner of the coveted title of Champion State will be awarded. By Chloe Chadwick
