This Friday, the Vilamoura Atlantic Tour enters its final stretch and simultaneously its ultimate highlight, with the most exciting and spectacular competitions taking place on Sunday. The Grand Prix Vilamoura World (CSI 3*) is expected to be one of the most disputed among the six Grand Prix of the all show.
With obstacles rising up to 1.50 meters, this Grand Prix Sunday will count towards the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and the European Show Jumping Championship, in Sweden in 2017.
During the next two days two major competitions will be held: today, one 1.40 meters competition and another for 1.45 meters in two legs; on Saturday, the last Small Grand Prix of 2016, with 1.40 meter obstacles, will be disputed.
This Thursdayone of the largest competitions of the weektook place. With 1.45 meters and counting for the Longines Ranking, it was won by the British rider Nicole Pavitt, with Victor Blue.
Pavitt completed the course, without jump-off, in 64.39 seconds, taking 24 seconds less than the second placed, Joe Whitaker, riding the mare Lola V, with 64.63 seconds. The third place went for the Dutch Leon Thijssen, riding Quintera, with a time of 66.24 seconds.
