Youngsters in the focus on first day at CSI2* Azelhof in Lier
At the Azelhof in Lier, Belgium, the indoor season was kicked off by the first international show of winter 2016/2017. The first day was all about the youngsters, offering classes for 5- to 7-year-olds.

In the group of 5- and 6-year-old horses it was the bronze-medallist of the World Breeding Jumping Championships in Lanaken who took home the first indoor-victory. Thierry Goffinet and the BWP-bred Kannabis van de Bruxtale (by Contact van de Heffinck) finished with a clear round in 33:52 seconds and left Dutch Rob Eras behind. Riding the Diamant de Semilly - offspring Collezione Cesaro Delano Eras stopped the clock at 34:81 seconds, followed by Elin Uppling and Zarko DS Z (by Zento) who ranked 3rd in 36:27 seconds.

Tom Slattery (Fix Blue) and Pascale Lombardi (Esther-II Des Brumes) completed the top 5, also staying clear in both phases of course.

Also in the class for 7-year-olds all horses were in good shape. Almost half of the participating combinations finished both phases with a clear result. James Peters and the BWP - mare J Adore (by Vagabond de la Pomme) could claim the win. The pair finished in 33:95 seconds, followed by Vanina Lombard riding Venus des Bois (by Jarnac) who came home in 34:32 seconds. Third place went to Dirk Demeersman aboard the Clinton - offspring Justice van het Reigershof (0 / 34:46).

Ann Carton-Grootjans and Jojoe Ter Doorn (by Toulon) were placed fourth, and Swiss Clarissa Crotta closed the top 5 riding Vanilla de Rouhet (by L'Arc de Triomphe).
