The curtain has fallen on the Youth Festival at the Azelhof in Lier! Besides the Children, Ponies, Scholars and Juniors, the Young Riders also got a new Belgian champion. The assignment was a total of four rounds for the sixteen finalists. In the end, of course, only one rider could hang the gold medal around his neck.
Vanina Lombard made with Venus Des Bois one jumping fault in the third round but managed to limit the damage. The combination had a total of 6.02 points and took home the bronze.
Finally, Bart Jay Junior Vandecasteele and Thibault Philippaerts fought it out in the race for the gold. To still have a chance at the gold, Vandecasteele could not afford too many mistakes. With Kadee van het Heikanthof he put down a flawless ride in the very last round but the time was just too short for him. With a total of 5.14 points he won silver. Thibault Philippaerts with Derby de Riverland was the only combination that did not make a single mistake over the entire weekend and so they more than deservedly win the gold!
