James Bilington leaves VDL Stud but successor already secured

The British rider James Billington has made the choice to continue his career in America. After ten years he will leave the stables of VDL Stud. The 35-year-old British rider brought several horses successfully in the sport and also managed to train a lot of young ones.

"James is a very skilled rider and we are very grateful to James for his commitment, dedication and friendship over the past ten years. We wish him every success with this new step", VDL Stud writes. That James stops working for VDL Stud does not mean that the cooperation will stop completely: "We both hope to mean a lot for each other in the future", VDL Stud states.

The role of James will be taken over by another Englishman; Alex David Gill. The young 23-year old rider is not unknown to VDL Stud. Two years ago he was still riding for Marcel de Bier Stables and he even rode some VDL stallions like Grand Slam VDL, Inaico VDL and Comthago VDL. After working briefly for Stal Houtzager-Kayser, Alex David Gill now joins VDL Stud to take over the reins from James.
