Jeroen Dubbeldam: "It's hard to stay motivated when you don't have a goal in mind"

Jeroen Dubbeldam, the first Dutch rider to win an Olympic medal, has to stay home, just like the rest of us. Last week he had his birthday and he stated it was very hard for him to stay motivated since he doesn't have a goal to work for.

"Of course I'm celebrating my birthday", Dubbeldam says. "It will be less 'wild' than usual; but I think we're going to bbq. Fortunately we have enough space here for everyone to keep their distance".

"It's very hard for me to stay motivated since I don't have a certain goal to work for. But okay, we have thirty horses here that need to be ridden. They have to come out of their stable, that's my motivation. A horse that doesn't train on a regular basis, will lose his muscle. If you have to wait to start training again until you know when competitions are going to start again, you're simply too late".
