Jos Verlooy beats the Dutch in main class CSI4* Maastricht

In Maastricht, the CSI4* riders came into action just before the last time today for the Grand Prix qualification. Hurdles were built up to 1m50 high and a jump-off would decide the winner. The riders were presented with a tough basic course but in the end eight combinations managed to jump a clear basic round. Of those eight, six were Dutch so the expectations of the home crowd were high. A lot of Dutch riders competed for the final victory but in the end it was Jos Verlooy who took the win. He rode FTS Killossery Konfusion (by Cruising) clear in 30.49 seconds.

Marc Houtzager followed with Sterrehof's Dante NOP (by Canturano) in second place. They were able to keep the clear and finished in 30.79 seconds. Willem Greve in turn rode Pretty Woman van't Paradijs (by Vigo d'Arsouilles) to third place. For this combination there was a clear round in 31.84 seconds.

The rest of the top five also came entirely in Dutch hands. Harrie Smolders rode Monaco NOP (by Cassini II) to fourth place by jumping a clear round in 34.17 seconds. Although Leopold van Asten set the fastest time with VDL Groep Nino du Roton (by Iron Man vd Padenborre), a jumping fault relegated them to fifth place.
