Kristaps Neretnieks claims gold in the FEI Jumping World Cup of Sharjah

In Sharjah, the battle for victory in the FEI World Cup Competition - Arab League just came to a thrilling end. The absolute top of the world traveled to Sharjah to compete in this CSI5*-W competition. The riders were presented with a course over two rounds that was built over a height of 1.45m/1.60m. Ten combinations managed to go through to the second round.

Only 1 combination managed to stay double clear and within the time over the two rounds. It was Kristaps Neretnieks could take care of that. Riding the twelve-year-old gelding Valour (by Verdi) Neretnieks rode in a clear round over the finish line in 48.95 seconds in the second round. With this, he was too fast for the Irishman Jack Ryan. He could count on BBS Mcgregor (by Cardento 933) to ride to second place in 50.90 seconds. He saw a time fault in the first round and managed to ride a safe and clear round. Evelina Tovek, student of Henrik von Eckermann, rode into the arena with her Zangersheide gelding Winnetou de la Hamente Z (by Winningmood). She noted two time faults in the first round and thus had nothing to lose in her second course which landed her in a fine third place with a time of 49.67 seconds.

Henrik von Eckermann (Glamour Girl) finished fourth. Eckermann was the fastest of all but a jumping fault kept him from victory. William Funnell (Equine America Billy Picador) finished fifth.
