New owner for Charlotte Dujardin's Olympic horse Gio

The British leading lady in dressage, Charlotte Dujardin, announced the sale of her top horse Gio.

The 10-year-old gelding by Apache x Tango, competed at the very highest level with Dujardin. At the Olympics in Tokyo, the combination won the bronze medal in the team competition, as well as individually. A few weeks later at the Europeans in Hagen, Gio and Dujardin won team silver and individual bronze.

In her post on Facebook, Dujardin says that in order for her to maintain a position in sport, especially in high level sport, at times, these difficult decisions need to be made. "I am so thankful that I do not have to do this regularly, as it is always such a hard thing to let go of animals that we see as our family", she says.

Gio will continue his career with British young talent Annabella Pidgley.
