Summer in the Rockies IV Wrap Up: July 2-6 at the Colorado Horse Park

Kate Vredenburg and her own Titan’s Atlas  $1,500 Modified Child/Adult Jumper Classic Winners Kate Vredenburg – “It was probably the most exciting round I’ve ever competed in. I am just so proud of my horse. In the classic it was more just galloping because I knew I should have taken the inside turn and didn’t. So having to gallop and make up time and hearing people yell ‘gallop,’ and hearing the announcer just go ‘wow,’ it was amazing.” “He is fairly new to me, that was just our sixth horse show ever, and he is just my dream horse. He is a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood Thoroughbred cross. He is a pretty straightforward horse. As long as I sit tall and breathe, he will usually go from anywhere. He is a true competitor, he loves to go, he loves his job, and he is still learning the ropes. For me it is really about riding the rhythm and doing my job to sit tall so he can learn how to figure all this jumping stuff out.” Claudia Peters and her own Sechelles $1,500 Low Adult Jumper Classic Winners Claudia Peters: “It went great, I really wasn’t expecting it. I was just warming up and I heard that there were a lot of people in the class, but apparently a lot of people did not go clear. I just really listened to my trainer, I did tight turns but was careful, kept a good pace, and was tidy around the corners. It was a good course.” “She is an 11 year old Selle Francais, I’ve had her for about four years. We are just starting to connect and do well together, so it’s been nice. She jumped great, and I am just learning to ride her better as time goes on.” Kelsey Cordell and her own Krokodile Dundee $1,5000 M&S Adult Jumper Classic and $1,5000 WIHS Adult Jumper Classic Winners Kelsey Cordell trains with Jim Urban of Quail Run Horse Centre, Inc. out of Elkhorn, NE. She attends South Dakota State University where she rides on the equestrian team. Cordell was also champion in the Adult Jumper Division. Emma Gjester and The Velveteen Rabbit, owned by Megan Engel Short Stirrup Hunter Classic Winners Emma Gjester: “My pony’s name is Velvet, his breed is Arabian Welsh Pony mix, he is a bay color and I’ve been riding him for maybe a year and a half now. Showing this week was great. My trainer gave me good advice to being a better rider. I’ve shown at the Colorado horse park before. My favorite part is that it is big, it is fun, and it is cool.” Trainer Brianna Davis: Emma is 12 and she’s been with me for a little bit over two years now. She actually moved back to Norway last summer and were gone all last summer, and the family just moved back to the states two weeks ago. This was her first show back in the states, and they just bought that pony. They had been gone all winter long, so it was very cool for her to do that well at her first horse show back. She will be competing at the last two weeks of Summer in the Rockies. Samantha Kramig and Bonaire, owned by Serenity Farm $1,000 NAL Children’s Hunter Classic Winners Samantha Kramig had a successful week in the Children’s Hunters, winning the $1,000 NAL Children’s Hunter Classic. In addition, the duo received top ribbons in the $500 WIHS Children’s Hunter Classic and the Col. R.L. Robertson Medal. Kramig trains with Cindy Cruciotti of Serenity Farm out of Elizabeth, CO. Sloan Hopson and her own Child’s Play Hot Topic $1,000 Pony Hunter Classic Winners Sloan Hopson hails from Houston, TX where she trains with Patricia Roberts of Memorial Park Hunters.
