Only four of more than twenty-five combinations were allowed to start a second round. With four retirements and many who made mistakes, the 1.50m high course proved to challenge the riders and their horses quite a bit as none of the four finalists kept it clear a second time. So it came down to the time in which the combinations finished their second course.

The win came in the name of Union de La Nutria (by Diamant de Semilly) and Mexican Alberto Sanchez. With about a second lead, the Mexican stayed ahead of himself as the silver also came to his name. It was Abril Hilcha Z (by Chacco Blue) that earned him that second place. Valeska Z (by Van Gogh) was good for bronze under Colombian Ruben Arroyave. The last finalist was Federico Fernandez, also competing for Mexico, on Davidoff (by Olympic Fire).
