"It's not sure the Olympics can take place next year"

COVID-19 is spreading all over Japan for the moment, so it's not sure that the Olympics can take place next year. Toshiro Muto, chief executive of the Olympics in Japan, has stated this.

The Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, has announced measures in order to stop the virus from spreading in Japan. At first, it seemed like the virus is Japan was under control, but more and more cases of Corona are being announced. The prime minister is criticized because he waited to long to postpone the Olympics. He is said to have waited too long to postpone, because he wouldn't want a financial disaster to happen. Postponing the Games would cost approx. 6 bilion.

"Nobody can predict if we have this virus under control by June", Muto says. "It's way to early to give a clear answer".
