Four-times World Champion IJsbrand Chardon put down a wonderful dressage test this afternoon in Breda, where the temperatures were very nice and the sun came out again. All eyes on the well-filled stands were set on Chardon, who entered the lovely main stadium as second to last starter. The 27-times Dutch Champion set a score of 36,87 points and has herewith taken the lead in the provisional standings. Chardon put down a beautiful and relaxed test with a lot of action, very good collections and bending. The five members of the international Ground Jury unanimously awarded Chardon with the first place. His compatriot Theo Timmerman finished second at some distance. Hungarian top driver Zoltán Lázár, who was the last starter today, closely follows him. Lázár put down a nice and active test with good figures. USA’s Lisa Stroud impressed by driving her team of chestnut KWPN geldings to the provisional fourth place. With Chardon and Timmerman in the lead, the Orange team is also on top of the nations standings. Whether the Dutch will be able to keep their lead will be decided tomorrow, when the remaining 28 drivers will enter the arena for their dressage tests. Amongst them are the reigning World Champion Boyd Exell from Australia and 2014 silver medallist Chester Weber from the USA.
