Jules van Hoydonck and Minte vd Bisschop snatched victory in the CSIU25 Grand Prix Land Rover Discovery in Geneva!
Twelve combinations in the jump-off and our compatriot was the fastest. On the back of Minte vd Bisschop, a daughter of Plot Blue out of the breeding of Tom De Craene, the former Belgian Champion in the Young Riders clocked just five hundredths of a second faster than Camilla Bosio. The Italian rider landed in second place with the 9-year-old Kindesth. Oliver Fletcher, the Brit who went home with victory earlier this week, signed for bronze with Bp Pocahontas (Emilion).
“My tactic was to go fast, but at the last minute I made a small change,” Jules told us afterwards. “I saw the last line in six strides, Mathieu (Bourdeaud'Hui) did five. Before I started, I passed Wendy Wauters, my coach, to ask if I could make that and she confirmed.”
“I lost my stirrup on the penultimate obstacle, so in that last line it was really all or nothing for me. I just had to go!”

“Last week I did a training with Steve Guerdat (the current world number two) and he gave me a lot of tips, including how to ride a jump-off. The essence was that you have to let your horse be a horse. No matter where their head is, for example, just let them be."
“Minte actually jumped very well all week. Yesterday it was a little unfortunate to have the last of the double off, but otherwise she was super. I have had a very good year, this is already a nice ending to that. Although Jumping Mechelen is still coming up of course. There I want to do at least as well as last year, we're going to try anyway!”
Before Jules van Hoydonck appeared in the arena, his compatriot Mathieu Bourdeaud'Hui was competing. The Krismar rider rode a swift round in the saddle of the 10-year-old BWP stallion Oscar The Homage and took fourth place with Koen Geerits' breeding product. In fifth followed Sira Martinez Cullell with Pipper des Vergers Z, a Zangersheide mare by Peppermill bred by Cindy Van Der Straeten.
