The Moroccon capital, Rabat, was the backdrop for the last stage of the 2024 Season of the Global Champions League. The Rome Gladiators took home the final victory while the girlpower of the Cannes Stars secured the overall win!
The Rome Gladiators were the only team to keep it clear over the two rounds. After a great job of Kyle Timm with Candar Mail (Lando) and Michael Duffy aboard Quirex, Lorenzo de Luca on Denver de Talma (Vigo Cece) and again Timm, now with Casino Calvin (Casino Berlin OLD) secured the top spot for their team.
After being away from the CSI5* spotlights for over six years, Duffy reintroduced the 15 years old gelding to the highest level after only being in the saddle for a month.
In second place was Stockholm Hearts featuring Julien Epaillard with Donatello d'Auge (Jarnac) and Olivier Philippaerts on H&M Legend of Love (Landzauber). Malin Baryard-Johnsson started off clear aboard H&M Indiana but couldn't steer the Kashmir van Schuttershof-mare to a second clear, leaving her team on four.
Shanghai Swans came in third with two clears from Daniel Deusser, counting on both Killer Queen Vdm (Eldorado vd Zeshoek) and Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z (Otangelo). Max Kühner supporterd the result with a clear for EIC Julius Caesar (Couleur Rubin). Their four faults were accounted by Ben Maher in the saddle of Exit Remo (San Remo).
Cannes Stars put the deeds to their words, ending on top of the 2024 GCL Season
Another victory for Simon Delestre and Olga van de Kruishoeve
In the 1m60 high course Simon Delestre went off with the victory in the saddle of Olga van de Kruishoeve (F. Eric Polfliet). With the 10-year-old BWP mare by El Torreo de Muze, he was only a quarter of a second ahead of Luciana Diniz. The Brazilian had the Mylord Carthago son Vertigo du Desert under the saddle. The Bert Van den Branden-bred Messi van't Ruytershof (Plot Blue) gave Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann third place!
Henrik von Eckermann and his BWP horse and also Olympic trump card King Edward (Edward), took fourth place. After a strong clear first round with his Olympic trump card, Ermitage Kalone (Catoki), Gilles Thomas pulled out his Belgian Champion of this year, Luna van het Dennehof (Prince van de Wolfsakker), for the second round. The breeding product of his uncle Marc van Dijck, together with Patrick De Muynck, guided him to a second clear result, which was good for fifth place.
