According to Edmund Haferbeck, PETA Germany will file a complaint against Matthias A. Rath and the owners of Totilas. Reason is Totilas' injury last week at the European Championships in Aachen. "Everybody knew Totilas was injured, or at least in pain, still he was sent into the ring to do his course," states Haferbeck. "They willingly let suffer the animal." PETA is now ready to accuse Totilas' crew - rider, owners, grooms, etc. - for violating the Animal Welfare Act. Also Edward Gal didn't escape the eagle eye of PETA. In the Grand Prix Special, Gal was disqualified because blood was found on the horse. Further some video's were distributed on the internet, showing the excecution of the so called Rollkur while training his Glock's Undercover. Mainly the use of this controversial training method is - according to PETA - a violation of the Animal Welfare Act. In 2012 PETA already tried to file charges against the owners and rider of Totilas. Then the Rollkur was used against them.
