After almost two years out of competition German rider Matthias Alexander Rath and the 14 year old stallion Totilas (Gribaldi) have returned with a vengeance. Rath and Totilas scored 82.30 % and managed to beat World number 1 Charlotte Dujardin (GBR) and Valegro (Negro) who had to settle for 6th place with an uncharacteristic score of 76.90 % Raths compatriot Helen Langehanenberg was second with Damon Hill (Donnerhall) and they scored a great 81.220 %. Dutch rider Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival (Jazz) were third with 80.980 %. The biggest surprise has to be Valegro's disappointing score. Dressage experts commented that he did not look himself. Valegro has not been beaten in competition since January 2012.
