Since 3 February, the new FEI Vaccination Module has been active within the FEI HorseApp. The module enables horse vaccination histories to be recorded and verified digitally. Its rollout is gradual: 2025 serves as a transition year, while from 1 January 2026, use of the module will become mandatory for entry into FEI competitions.
The new system centralises the management of equine influenza vaccinations. Owners, grooms, trainers, or riders must first upload a horse’s existing vaccination record before a veterinarian can add new data.
Under FEI Veterinary Regulations, veterinarians are required to enter details, including date, vaccine name, batch number, and their own name, on the day of vaccination.
Access for veterinarians
Registered FEI veterinarians have direct access to the module. Non-FEI veterinarians can create an account as a “vaccination veterinarian” and, after e-mail confirmation, record vaccinations for the horses they treat.
2025: a transition year
The year 2025 is designated as an “enrolment year”, allowing users to familiarise themselves with the new system. Until the end of 2025, a correctly completed FEI passport will remain sufficient for competition entry.
FEI Veterinary Director Dr Göran Åkerström has confirmed that this transitional arrangement will stay in place through 2025.
Strict enforcement from 2026
From 1 January 2026, all horses entering FEI competitions must have a fully completed and accurate vaccination record in the FEI HorseApp. The FEI has announced that compliance will be strictly enforced.
Owners and professionals are advised to ensure all data are correctly entered before the end of this year.
