Earlier, the Wellington Equestrian Center already announced that it is canceling its competition schedule this week. Milton made landfall on Wednesday evening local time in Siesta Key, on the west coast of Florida, as a Category 3 storm. Milton has since weakened to a Category 2 and the maximum wind speed of the hurricane has decreased from 190 to 175 kilometers per hour.
Many horse stables were also hit by the storm. 'For now, the damage is limited to material damage,' says rider Ashley Bond. In a video, she shows that the horses are fortunately safe. 'The various trailers and cars are on their roofs...' she adds."
