In Gijon, the Nations Cup is drawing all attention today. In yesterday's Grand Prix qualifier the jumps were set at a height of 1.60m. With only 11 out of the 61 starters returning for the jump-off, it was Ireland colouring the win. Billy Twomey and the already 18-years-old, Tinka's Serenade (by Tinka's Boy) set the time at 39.68 seconds. A victory worth over 20,000 Euro. Abdullah Alsharbatly proved, yet again, to be heading for title; 'best rider of the competition'. Aboard Domingo (by Thunder van de Zuuthoeve) he followed into a second place stopping the clock at 40.05 seconds. Laura Renwick and Bintang II (by Tanglo van de Zuuthoeve) finished third. The top five was completed by Dermott Lennon with Loughview Lou-Lou (by Limmerick) and Henk van de Pol (Willink) in fourth and fifth place. A total of six horse-rider combinations finished their jump-off faultless. Also Belgium's Catheringe van Roosbroeck (Gautcho Da Quinta, 5th) and Great-Britain's Robert Bevis (Courtney z, 6th).
