Brits dominate at MET Young Horses

The second day of the Autumn MET Tour in Oliva, Spain put the focus on the young horses. With the 7-year-old horses a total of 53 combinations took the start. No less than 22 pairs jumped a double clear round, resulting in an international coloured stage. Paolo Mencolini speeded to the win aboard the Selle Français Vesuvio Delque (Quick Star x Le Tot de Semilly). The pair stopped the clock in 34.06 seconds, a couple of hunderest of a second faster as Switzerland's Romain Sottas. Sottas and the KWPN-mare Eyecatcher (Harley VDL x Orthos) crossed the finish in 34.25 seconds. James Wilson and Eskola M placed third. The top five was completed by Holger Wenz with Camino 461 (by Chacco-Blue) and Olivia Gent with Lord Thunder (by El Thuder) in a fourth and fifth place. The Netherlands coloured the win with the 6-year-old horses. Anouk de Ruijter and Fiorie (Zacharov x Manhattan) topped the class after a clear finish in 32.47 seconds. Over one and a half second faster as Katherina Offel and the Zangersheide-grey Casper J&J Z (by Cicero Z). Kristaps Nertnieks and Baccaratzz (by Bacardi) completed the stage. The top five was completed by Emma Augier de Moussac (Miss Pepper Potts, by Heartbreaker) and Antonio Marinas Soto (Faya Sao Miguel; by Cornetto Z). Witht he five year old it were the Brits that ruled the class. Will Edwards and his AES-horse, Eclipse II (by Casanova du Domaine Z) jumped to victory. The pair concluded in 29.49 seconds, over two seconds faster as Jessica Crosby and Harvey. Andrew Saether and Baika de l'Abbaye completed the stage.
