Todays team competition took a swift turn for the France nation that was in the lead after yesterdays speedclass and now currently sits in third position after seeing there first two riders jump down a rails. Instead its the showjumping meisters Marcus Ehning and Christian Ahlmann that take Germany to the top of the board next to the Dutch that was the only nation today that produced two clear rounds. Tis morning it was McLain ward that pulled of the first amazing clear round on board of Rothchild. As first combination to enter the stade d'Ornano Ward appeared to breeze over the huge course set up by French designer Frédéric Couttier. "When you ride as first you all the possibilities as you don't know what has happend on the course beforehand. But since my horse is even a bit fussy at home the experience we both have made it so that we could easily adjust." said a pleased Mclain Ward after his fantastic round in stade d'Ornano today. But looks can be deceiving as many riders soon descovered. Just like yesterdays monring session allot of combinaties got in trouble, including Belgiums Pieter Devos found out by dismounting his horse on the last jump. The team from The Netherlands boasts the advantage of being the only nation to have two clear rounds in the clubhouse at the conclusion of this morning’s session of team Jumping in Caen’s d’Ornano Stadium. With a fifth after yesterday’s speed contest bthey have jumped their way into an unofficial pole position at this early stage of two days of team jumping thanks to world number 12 Maikel van der Vleuten notching up one of their two clear rounds. The Netherlands’ first duo into the arena, Jeroen Dubbeldam and Zenith SFN (above), continued their good form from yesterday when they had notched up a clear round by doing the same today. Germany’s two riders (that were both clear yesterday) have recorded a clear and a four-fault round. Christian Ahlmann, the first rider in for yesterdays’s fourth-placed team, heard the oohs of the crowd when Codex One dislodged a rail on 12b. France lays in third position with Pénélope Leprevost and Simon Delestre both taking a rail down. The Swedish take fourth place just in front of USA that sits fifth despite Wards amazing display this morning. Check the full standing here.
