As the countdown to the new season picks up pace, a star-studded list of riders and horses is ready for the high calibre competition at the opening show of the GCT Championship series. The exclusive Club de Campo Villa de Madrid will play host to GCT from May 3 - 5 with riders fresh from the World Cup Final only a few days earlier. Current world No1 Christian Ahlmann will be among a strong field including top 10 riders Steve Guerdat, Gerco Schröder, Pius Schwizer, current GCT champion Edwina Tops-Alexander, Kevin Staut, Marcus Ehning, Nick Skelton and Marc Houtzager.
GCT Grand Prix regularly attract the highest number of top ranked riders than any other show jumping series and offers the highest prize money in the sport. GCT Madrid will kick off another calendar of intense competition between the world’s best with all the riders starting on zero points with everything to play for. The event will mark GCT’s debut in Madrid and will provide a strong indication of which riders and horses are going to be the strongest challengers for the championship this year. And the riders list for the Global Champions Tour in Hamburg reveals 8 out of the top 10 will be competing in another top-level line-up.
