Leon Thijssen wins Grand Prix Qualifier in Mijas

At the Costa Del Sol, in Mijas, the two-star-riders once again entered the ring today. Today, the highlight was the Grand Prix qualifier, that was jumped over an height of 1,45m. This class was ridden against the clock and riders could collect precious points for the Longines ranking. The victory went to the Dutch rider Leon Thijssen. He and his 9-year old gelding Captain Cooper (Namelus R) jumped a clear round in 70,68 seconds. Exactly two weeks ago, this combination also won the Grand Prix qualifier in Asten. The Swiss rider Pius Schizer ended on second place with Electric Z (Erco Van'T Roosakker). They left the wood untouched and finished in 71,09 seconds. The Belgian rider Kevin Gielen rode Durano E (Canturano) to the third place in 71,43 seconds. The top five was completed by Lars Bak Andersen (Argentinus) and Sanne Thijssen (Ulena). They jumped clear rounds and finished in respectively 72,02 and 72,24 seconds. In the 1,35m class, that was ridden earlier today, 12 combinations placed themselves for the jump-off. In that jump-off, the Brazilian rider Rodrigo Marinho was the fastest with Brassica (Capuccino). He rode a clear round in 31,55 seconds. The Dutch rider Yves Houtackers followed on second place with the Mr. Blue son Dandy Blue B. They crossed the finish line in 33,06 seconds. Frantz Ducci and Urbane de Puychety (Ideal de la Loge) completed the podium in 33,77 seconds. The fourth place was shared. William Funnell (Billy Cool) and Pius Schwizer (Cortney Cox) both crossed the finish line after 33,97 seconds, leaving the wood untouched. Click here for the results
