The recent news of the Brexit didn't stop the Irish or British riders to ride their very best in Hickstead. One of the highlights of this afternoon was the "For the Ben O'Meara Memorial Trophy", a 1,60m class with jump-off. The first course wasn't an easy course to ride it seemed, because only three combinations managed to keep the zero on the board in the first round. Therefore, a jump-off with three riders had to decide who was crowned the winner. In this jump-off the Irish rider David Simpson and his horse Gotti Van Paemel (Cicerco Z) were the only combination who left the wood untouched. He finished clear in 75,91 seconds, way slower than the other two riders but since they got jumping penalties, it was enough to take the win. The British rider William Funell rode a fast time with Billy Onslow (Billy Congo) but unfortunately Billy hit one fence. The Irish rider Shane Breen was even faster. He rode his gelding Acoustik Solo Du Baloubet through the finish line in 59,59 seconds but they got 8 penalties. Shane Breen took account for the fourth place as well. He rode a clear first round with Millfield Ultymate (Ulysses) but he didn't start in the jump-off anymore. The top 5 was completed by Guy Williams and Titus (Lancelot). They jumped a clear first round as well, but they were a little bit slow, which resulted in one penalty for time. Click here for the results
