Last weekend Belgium welcomed about 15 nations for the first AIEC Nations Cup for student riders in 2013. For the first time ever Zimbabwe participated in this international event, and not without success. Yara Hassan scored an individual 41st place while the team had to be satisfied with a 13th place. The overall victory was for the ever strong Germany. Despite the individual places did not score higher than a fourth place, Germany collected most points thanks to a the nice overall result of Miriam Holbach. Johanna Kubens impressed during the dressage with her 6th individual place. And also Sara Schubert claimed her place in the overall top ten.
Ireland followed in second place while Sweden ended third. Represented by Beatrice Gustaffson, Beatrice Matson and Celie Gunnarsson, who also grasps the first individual place of this competition, the Swedish team can look back to a great start of the season. The organizing country, Belgium, placed on a 9th place. Sander Pauwels, Tine Van Oost and Femke D'Hoore made sure the Belgium team ended in front in each category, while the overall however was not enough for a place in the top five.
The next Nations Cup on the schedule will be the one in Romania. From May 23 until May 26 again 15 nations will gather, this time in Sibiu. Riding on the AIEC SRNC of the Year from 2012 & 2011.
