After a mornings show jumping when 66 horse and rider combinations came forward to the final show jumping phase of the CCI1* competition the Equi-Trek Main arena looked stunning. Blair Castle provided a magnificent backdrop for the final phase of the competition. After the testing cross country course, designed by Ian Stark OBE, horses need to be athletic in order that no penalties are incurred and clear rounds proved to be few and far between. The competition was hotly contested with only one mark between the top three on the final leaderboard. The top spot was claimed by Emily Young-Davison(GBR) on Gortmore Tommy T finishing on their dressage score of 43.7. Second place was filled by Hendrik Degros (BEL) on Crackerjack (44.4) and third place to Lesley Webb (IRE) on Kilpatrick Lord (44.7). Emily led the field from the outset and a clear show jumping round for the final phase of the competition secured the winning slot. Emily commented “We bought Gortmore Tommy T at the Monart Sales in Ireland as a 4 year old. He is incredible and has the best attitude, we just help each other”. Emily is based at Lucinda Fredericks yard and has been her Head girl and second rider for 8 years. Lucinda, who took a tumble in yesterday’s cross country phase, was on the phone to congratulate Emily as soon as she had finished her show jumping round.
