It was quite the day at the cross country in Tryon. The eventers had a lot to endure from broken reins, broken flags and several horses who completed the cross country on their own after losing their rider. Besides all the drama there where offcourse some beautiful results as well. We see Germany's Ingrid Klimke who is still in the lead for gold in first position aboard her SAP Hale Bob OLD (by Helikon XX) with whom she finished with 23.3 penalties. She is followed by British rider Rosalind Canter and her Allstar B (by Ephebe for Ever) with 24.6 penalties. Then in third place it is Irish lady Sarah Innis who aboard Horseware Stellor Rebound (VDL Ricochet) finished with 26.3 penalties. The first time penalties fell for French rider Thibaut Valette Lt Col and his Qing du Briot Ene HH who finished with 26.8 penalties in fourth place, while Astier Nicolas and his Vinci de la Vigne follow with 27.1 penalties in fifth place. New Zealand's Tim Price had a strong round aboard Cekatinka leaving him in sixth place for now, while for Ireland Padraig McCarthy finished in seventh place aboard Mr Chunky with 27.2 penalties. All in all the results are very close and we will have to wait and see who claims the cold this monday in the showjumping round. The showjuming round is postponed to monday with tropical storm Florence hitting Tryon tonight and tomorrow with severe rain. For now the Nations cup is being lead by the UK team with 80.8 penalties, followed by Ireland who is in second place with 89.0 penalties. In third place we find the French team with 91.8 penalties.
