WEG: Vittoria Panizzon withdraws from Eventing Competition

Italian eventer Vittoria Panizzon withdrew Borough Pennyz just before her dressage test in the eventing competition at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games today (Friday 29 August).. She confirmed to H&H that Sally Bullen’s popular grey mare “didn’t feel right” in the warm-up. The British-based pair could have been in line for an individual medal, especially as this is expected to be a strong cross-country competition and Pennyz is a fantastic performer in the jumping phases. Vittoria has had a run of bad luck this year including withdrawing Pennyz from Badminton with a bruised foot — another event which would have played to her strengths. In June she had thousands of pounds worth of tack stolen from her previous yard in Gloucestershire while she was competing at Bramham.
