The opening day of the 2026 Spruce Meadows ‘Continental’ CSI5*/2* was filled with excitement as athletes made their first appearance of the summer tour. More than 300 rounds of competition took place throughout the day on the All Canada Ring and North American Ring, officially launching another season of international show jumping at Spruce Meadows.
The first CSI5* competition of the season, Mission: Possible 1.45m, welcomed 66 athletes to the All Canada Ring. Competitors faced a smooth and inviting opening track designed by FEI Course Designer Tom Holden (IRL), setting the stage for a great week of competition.
In the one-round competition, Abdullah AlSharbatly (KSA) and Atome Des Etisses (Mylord carthago x Quidam De Revel) delivered the fastest fault-free performance of the day, crossing the finish line in 55.68s to claim the victory. AlSharbatly finished second on his other mount, Valentino (Diamantino x Careful), while Nicola Pohl (GER) and Fruna de Kogis (Kannan GFE x Papillon Rouge) rounded out the podium in third.
The pair was followed by Canada's own, Amy Millar. Aboard Christiano (Canoso), Millar referred Belgium's Jos Verlooy to the fifth place. Verlooy completed the top five with Parise van den Dael (I Am Moerhoeve's Star).
