A truly international field came together for the Trofeo Caser Grupo Helvetia, the CSI2* Grand Prix at the Gijón International Horse Show. With 58 starters and only 7 in the jump-off, the Las Mestas arena witnessed fast clear rounds and a battle for the €28,300 prize fund.
Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Alsharbatly emerged victorious with Quisandro (Quintero), delivering two faultless rounds and the winning time of 36.74 seconds.
Ireland’s Mark McAuley secured runner-up spot with Destinee de Vains (Untouchable), also double clear but almost two seconds slower in 38.95 seconds. Completing the podium was Catherine Yen-Tung Chew of Singapore, guiding Holanda VDL (Boss) to a flawless performance in 42.84 seconds.
Spain’s Iván Serrano Sáez finished just off the podium in fourth place with Corvara Blue PS (Cornet Obolensky), while Brazil’s Felipe Ramos Guinato and Spain’s Eduardo Álvarez Aznar followed in fifth and sixth respectively.
