The 1.60m Grand Prix qualification of Hong Kong was decided after a jump-off of four. While the entire Thijssen family claimed prizes, Swiss rider Barbara Schnieper jumped to victory. With two double-clear rounds, Schnieper won aboard the 12-year-old mare, Canice.
Barbara Schnieper and the 12-year-old daughter of Cascadello, bred by Wolfgang Brinkmann, finished more than two seconds faster than the time of John Whitaker and the 17-year-old SF gelding, Unick du Francport (Zandor, breeder: Laurent Baillet). Whitaker’s fellow countryman, Scott Brash, completed the top three aboard the 12-year-old mare, Hello Chadora Lady (Chacco-Blue).
Just outside the podium, Sanne Thijssen finished in fourth place. Thijssen qualified with the nine-year-old Chiara VDH (Chacco-Blue). Together with the mare, bred by B.J.M. Wezenberg, the rider stayed ahead of Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida with Solidat (Semper Fi).
