Today, the European Jumping Championship for pony riders reached its climax in Le Mans. In the individual final over two rounds at the 1.35m level, the combinations battled for the coveted gold medal. Tension ran high, margins were tight, but in the end, Ireland’s Cian McMunn emerged as the big winner.
The final was decided by a jump-off between four combinations. Cian McMunn delivered a lightning-fast and flawless round with Esperando SK (Ulk D’ete) in 39.25 seconds, narrowly edging out his direct competitors. A remarkable performance, as the duo remained faultless throughout the entire championship—an achievement that is exceptional in itself.
The silver medal went to Britain’s Darcy Honeybunn Daisy Breen with One Saharah (Daniel), who also jumped clear in the jump-off but was just a fraction slower at 39.87 seconds. The bronze medal went to fellow Irish rider Charlie Flynn, who had picked up four penalties earlier in the championship with HK Zena (Starpower TN), but secured his podium place with a clear round in the jump-off in 38.76 seconds.
Just missing out on the medals was Britain’s Sophia Rogers with Neil 55 (Otangelo), who incurred four faults in the final round but went clear in the jump-off with a time of 39.41 seconds. Fifth place went to Ireland’s Lily Tunney with Fireman, who finished with a total of eight faults after collecting four penalties in each round.
