Just like this week, there's a lot of international five-star action on the schedule again. "Last weekend was insanely busy. This year, there are over 100 CSI5* competitions on the agenda. Last week was crazy busy with five major events!" analyzes Dani G. Waldman. "The Irish dominated in two arenas, Hong Kong had immense prize money but a weak course, and in Doha, the atmosphere was subpar, though the female riders managed to shine..."
Waldman continues her analysis. "With so many events, I feel like our sport lacks a more defined calendar. Maybe we should consider CSI6* competitions or a few more prestigious events supported by the FEI? CSI5* competitions should be something special in our sport, yet last weekend, none of the CSI5* events managed to attract the world's best combinations… that says enough, doesn’t it?" Waldman continues. "Treating all 100+ CSI5* competitions as equal isn’t right! There should be distinctions..."
Women dominated!
"Fun fact: Last weekend, 50% of the Grand Prix winners were female riders!" Waldman adds. "This despite an average participation ratio of 70/30."
