From December 5 to 7, the Casas Novas Equestrian Center in Arteixo (A Coruña) will host the CSI5-W A Coruña*, a key stage of the Western European League of the FEI World Cup. The event will bring together some of the most competitive riders in the international show jumping circuit for a weekend of high-level competition.

Leading the lineup is Gilles Thomas (Belgium), currently 5th in the FEI world ranking. Thomas returns to Casas Novas after winning team gold and individual bronze at the European Championships this summer, and becoming the youngest rider ever to win the Longines Global Champions Tour in 2024.

He will face stiff competition from riders such as Julien Epaillard (France), world No. 10 and reigning World Cup champion in Basel, and Simon Delestre (France), ranked 18th, who arrives in top form after winning the 5* Grand Prix in Monaco. Max Kühner (Austria), 23rd in the world and LGCT 2024 champion, will also compete, aiming to improve his ranking ahead of the World Cup Final.

The international field is further strengthened by top names including Edwina Tops-Alexander (Australia), Thibault Philippaerts (Belgium), Jack Whitaker (United Kingdom), Philipp Weishaupt (Germany), Joseph Stockdale (United Kingdom), Henrik von Eckermann (Sweden), Marcus Ehning (Germany), Robert Whitaker (United Kingdom), or Wilma Hellström (Sweden).

Spain will be well represented by riders familiar with Casas Novas’ indoor arena, including Eduardo Álvarez Aznar, Armando Trapote, Sergio Álvarez Moya, Manuel Fernández Saro, Jesús Garmendia, Álvaro González de Zárate, Pello Elorduy, Imma Roquet, Teresa Blázquez Abascal, and Iván Serrano Sáez.

The highlight of the weekend will be the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Casas Novas Grand Prix, held on Sunday afternoon, December 7. The event will bring together the most in-form combinations on the European circuit for a top-level technical and competitive test.
