Although the Italian national anthem played following the 1.45m Trofeo GNP Seguros, the victory had a distinct Belgian tint. Nikolaj de Music (by Kannan), a BWP-bred horse raised by Walter Lelie, secured the win for Emanuele Gaudiano in this Longines Ranking class.
Emanuele Gaudiano and the 13-year-old BWP stallion narrowly beat the time set by Arturo Parada Vallejo aboard the 15-year-old Valento (by Van Helsing, breeder: Stefan Terntelman). Niels Bruynseels added further Belgian flair to the podium.
Bruynseels finished in third place with the 12-year-old Zangersheide mare, Credibilis van het Lindenhof Z (by Crown Z, breeder: Luc Van de Vijver). Just outside the top three were Hasan Senturk with Avant Toi (by Flyinge Quite Easy), followed by Nicolas Pizarro and Farino du Guinefort (by Upsilon).
