The CSI5* over 1.50 metres in Traverse City once again brought together the best of international show jumping. Although victory went to America, Belgian-bred horses played a starring role at the top of the rankings.
The victory went to Kalinka van 't Zorgvliet (Thunder vd Zuuthoeve), ridden by Karl Cook. The fifteen-year-old BWP mare, bred by André Braeckeveldt, finished clear and was also unbeatable in the winning round with 38.86 seconds.
The silver went to Daniel Bluman and Gemma W (Luidam). They crossed the finish line clear in 39.69 seconds.
Erynn Ballard finished in third place with her BWP mare Queen Kinmar Hero (Kassander van 't Roosakker). Competing under the Canadian flag, the nine-year-old mare jumped twice clear and finished with 42.93 seconds in the winning round.
Fourth place also went to a BWP horse: Precious Dwerse Hagen (Cornet Obolensky), bred by BV De Dwerse Hagen. Under American rider Stella Wasserman, the ten-year-old mare also had a clear round, but received four penalty points in the winning round.
Daniel Coyle rounded off the top five by crossing the finish line in 40.77 seconds with Calippo 57 (Casallco). However, the combination knocked down a fence along the way, which meant they had to settle for fifth place.
