In Wellington, anticipation was high for the CSI4* 1.55m Holiday & Horses Grand Prix. After a jump-off featuring eight combinations, Kent Farrington rode to victory with his grey mare, Greya (Colestus x Contender).
Two combinations managed to complete the jump-off faultlessly. Farrington and the mare, bred by Wilfried Sandmann, finished a solid six seconds ahead of Hallie Grimes and the BWP mare, Karoline of Ballmore (Diarado x Convento van de Helle). The fifteen-year-old mare was previously competed by the Philippaerts family.
Anthony D'Ambrosio had built a challenging course, where, surprisingly, the small vertical with white poles proved to be the key challenge. Finishing in 42.46 seconds but with one jumping fault, Shane Sweetnam completed the top three riding Coriaan van Klapscheut Z (Comme Il Faut). The Irish rider had also placed with the Zangersheide stallion on Saturday.
Erynn Ballard - who had already won a major class in Wellington - followed in fourth place aboard Dior (Canturano I), ahead of Jad Dana and the sBs gelding, Itchcock des Dames (Marius Claudius).
