American equestrian Kristen Vanderveen has announced the sporting retirement of her trusted partner, Faustino de Tili (Berlin x Darco). "He is the horse that took me to a new level!"
The 21-year-old stallion was bred by Lieven Bruyneel and Tim van Tricht. He was originally trained by Belgium's Tim Van Den Broeck before moving to the stables of Olivier Philippaerts, who developed him to a higher level. In 2015, Kristen Vanderveen took over the reins. According to the American rider, his most special trait was his ability to finish at the top in both speed classes and Grands Prix and he remained remarkably healthy throughout his career.
The stallion will move to Europe for his retirement. "While 'Frosty' enjoys his retirement, he will be used for breeding. He has opened doors for me over the past years. From Grands Prix to hunter competitions and even trail rides... I am grateful for everything he has brought and given me!"
