Only four combinations managed to navigate the initial course without penalties to qualify for the decisive jump-off. It was there that reigning Olympic team champion Malin Baryard-Johnsson demonstrated her expertise. Aboard the 16-year-old BWP mare H&M Indiana (by Kashmir van Schuttershof), she sped through the finish line clear in 37.76 seconds.

Odile Gierech Secures Success for Luxembourg

The only other pair to successfully keep the rails in the cups during the jump-off was Luxembourg’s Odile Gierech. Riding the SBS mare Kiss-Me v/h BHH (by Mosito van het Hellehof), she clocked a time of 40.92 seconds. Although over three seconds slower than the winner, the performance was more than enough to secure a brilliant second place.

Spain’s Manuel Fernandez Saro finished third. With Baloys PS (by Baloubet du Rouet), he recorded a fast time of 38.29 seconds but a single jumping fault kept him from the top spot. Italian rider Elisa Chimirri finished fourth with Your Lord d’Acheronte, also finishing with four penalties in the jump-off.
