The two absolute top horses of show jumper Marco Kutscher, Aventador S and Catelly, have been sold. The horses will continue their careers under the British flag, as reported by the German website equi-pages.
Former double European champion and Olympic bronze medalist Marco Kutscher has confirmed that Ben Maher will be the new rider for both Aventador S and Catelly. "The goal was always for the horses to be sold sooner or later. In Ben Maher, we have found an exceptional rider who has a good rapport with both horses," said Kutscher.
Immediate success under the new rider
Kutscher recently competed with both horses at the Global Champions Tour event in Miami. Instead of traveling on to the next leg in Mexico, the horses remained in Florida, where they already made their debut under Ben Maher last weekend.
The current world number four made an immediate impression: riding Aventador S, Maher placed fourth in a national Grand Prix after two clear rounds. With Catelly, the Briton had one rail down in the first round, but still managed to finish in the ribbons.
A successful period with Kutscher
Marco Kutscher has achieved great results with both horses over the past few years:
-
Catelly (14-year-old Holsteiner gelding, by Cataldo): Following successes under Linn Hamann and the Danish rider Lars Bak Andersen, Kutscher took over the ride in the autumn of 2024. Since then, they have achieved numerous top placings in competitions in Leipzig, Gothenburg, and the Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix in Prague. The most memorable moments, however, were the clear rounds they delivered for the German team in the Nations Cups of Hickstead, Dublin, and most recently, Abu Dhabi.
-
Aventador S (13-year-old OS stallion, by Armitage): Kutscher took over the stallion as a young horse from Otto Vaske and carefully brought him up to the highest level. The duo achieved many successes, including a victory in the 2025 Madrid GCT Grand Prix and a win in the 1.50m class at the Nations Cup tournament in Abu Dhabi.
