In the electric atmosphere of the Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) of Miami Beach, one name has once again risen to the top, cementing a legacy at this unique coastal venue. For Katrin Eckermann, this latest victory is far more than another trophy for the mantle, it is a deeply personal milestone defined by intuition, partnership, and a commitment to a larger cause.
“Winning again there honestly means a lot to me,” she shared, reflecting on her triumphant performance. “The LGCT Grand Prix of Miami Beach is something special, I already had great memories from 2022 and 2023, so coming back and doing it again feels very personal. It’s not just about the result; it’s about the team behind me, of course my groom Kelsey, and that feeling of everything coming together in a place that already means something to you.”
The Power of Intuitive Partnership
At the heart of the victory was her connection with her mount, Iron Dames Dialou Blue PS. In the high-stakes environment of a Grand Prix, where split-second decisions determine the outcome, the rider emphasized that overthinking is often the enemy of performance.
“With Dialou Blue PS, it’s a very intuitive connection,” she explained. “In Miami, especially in a class like this, you don’t have time to think too much—it’s about trusting each other. In the key moments, what made the difference was that I could rely on her completely, and she really fought for me in the ring.”
A Message for the Future
As she continues to reach the pinnacle of equestrian sport, the champion remains acutely aware of the influence she has on the next generation of riders. Her advice to young athletes is grounded in the reality that success is rarely a linear path.
“I think the most important thing is that they see there’s no one way to do it,” she noted. “You don’t have to be perfect, and the path is never straight. If they take away that it’s okay to have ups and downs but still keep going and believing in what you’re doing, then that already means a lot.”
