The International Horse Show in Stockholm has kicked off. In the 1.45m opening class of the CSI4*, Peder Fredricson claimed victory in front of his home crowd. Fredricson kept the competition behind him with the eight-year-old Qurious HS (Comme Il Faut).
Peder Fredricson and the gelding bred by Linn Holm were the only pair to jump a clear round in under 39.98 seconds. As one of the last to enter the ring, Olympic team gold medalist Ben Maher came close to that time. Maher followed in second place with the BWP gelding Nighthawk (formerly Quickstar Vd Zwartbleshoeve).
Riding the son of Stakkato Gold (breeder: Wim Bode), the Brit stayed just under two seconds ahead of Kevin Staut and Kannonqulan (Kannan, breeders: Lena & Julia Johansson).
Maikel van der Vleuten single-handedly completed the top five. Van der Vleuten jumped to fourth place with Branttastisch Hdh (Brantzau). On the back of Quastor vd Heffinck (Rock'N Roll Semilly), the Dutch rider rounded off the top five. Van der Vleuten took over the reins of the gelding from Jody van Gerwen in September.
