Together with the fourteen-year-old Hanoverian stallion, Coby 8 (Contagio), Philipp Weishaupt jumped to victory in the 1.60m World Cup of A Coruña this afternoon! Weishaupt and the son of Contagio, after a jump-off with fourteen competitors, narrowly beat the time of Robert Whitaker (GBR) with Vermento (Argento).
"For me this was my first big five-star win this season and as this was my last show of the year, my last opportunity to win!" Weishaupt said. "Coby is a fighter. He proved he knows what to do in the Jump-Off. This is where he shines! It's a real fun to ride him..." Weishaupt said afterwards.
"My horse is in good shape," says Whitaker. "He also showed his strong form in the Grand Prix on Saturday. And today I could go all out. Today I also earned enough points for Basel. Now focus on London..." Whitaker and John Whitaker's bred son of Argento relegated local show jumper, Jesus Garmendia Echevarria (Callias) to third place. J
ust outside the top three followed Hans-Dieter Dreher in the saddle of his 12-year-old Elysium (VDL Zirocco Blue ). Dreher had already won the Grand Prix on Saturday. The top five was completed by Ivan Serrano Saez and the 14-year-old son of Chacco-Blue, Rain Man. Also clear round, Kim Emmen followed with her Olympic trump card, Image (Cassini Gold) in sixth place.
