Heavy thunderstorms briefly disrupted the action in Aachen. The 1.50m Prize of StädteRegion Aachen, in memory of Landrat Hermann-Josef Pütz, was interrupted halfway due to heavy rain. Eventually, the competition was able to resume, and Laura Kraut won with Emeraldo 4 (Emerald). “After leaving the arena, I joked that I had only ridden so fast, because I wanted to get out of the ring,” Kraut said, laughing again as she got ready for the prize-giving ceremony – dry again in the meantime.
Laura Kraut and Emeraldo 4 (Emerald) jumped to victory in this 1.50m class with a time of 31.98 seconds. Just under a second behind was Kevin Jochems with the 10-year-old mare, Prada Di Costa M (Vannan). For a while, it looked like Richard Vogel would claim his second win of the day. However, with the nine-year-old Levi Noesar (VDL Zirocco Blue), bred by Jur Vrieling, the German ultimately finished in third place.
The pair was followed by Tom Wachman, who with Do It Easy (Vigo Cece) was just slightly faster than Jörne Sprehe and Toys (Toulon).
Asked about her nine-year-old winning horse, Laura Kraut raved: “He is simply wonderful! Every time I jump him, he tries to do everything right. He simply has a remarkable attitude towards everything – including thunderstorms, as I now know,” she laughed. The pair still have plenty on their agenda this week. On Friday, the Emerald son is due to compete in the RWE Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia. It will be his first 1.60-metre class.
