At the CSI4* in Gijón, the Trofeo Fundación Gijón Rural 1.55m was on the program. Out of 46 starters, only eight combinations made it to the jump-off.
The victory went to Portugal’s Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida. Riding Karonia.L (Harley VDL), he stayed double clear and was convincingly the fastest in 43.50 seconds. The French pair Jules Orsolini and Charlotte 198 (Casall) also produced a clear round in the jump-off, but at a much slower pace of 51.66 seconds, taking second place.
Third place went to Julien Epaillard with Donatello d’Auge (Jarnac): the Frenchman posted the fastest time of 43.28 seconds, but a rail down in the jump-off kept him from the top. Spain’s Pello Elorduy Ibarzabal delighted the home crowd by finishing fourth with Flonflon (Ogrion des Champs) in 45.54 seconds.
Jur Vrieling carried the Dutch flag with a flawless first round and just one rail in the jump-off, securing a strong fifth place in 45.67 seconds.
