The Vorpe family has announced the retirement of their stallion, Vancouver de Lanlore (Toulon x Le Tot de Semilly), from sport. The 16-year-old stallion was previously ridden by Pénélope Leprévost and, more recently, by Swiss rider Pius Schwizer.
Next month, the stallion will move to Haras Saint-Lô, where he will begin his career as a breeding stallion. “We have been deliberating over this decision for a long time,” said the owner. “Now that he is in top form and has nothing left to prove, we decided to make the call!”
As a three-year-old, Vancouver was sold to the Vorpe family for €90,000 at the NASH auction. He made his debut in young horse classes with Sylvain Montigny. Under French rider Romain Duguet, the stallion developed into an international competitor at the CSI5* Grand Prix level.
Later, Pénélope Leprévost took over the reins. The pair won the CSI3* Grand Prix of Munich in 2018 and the Grand Prix of Vejer de la Frontera in 2020. They also frequently represented France in Nations Cup competitions, including a double-clear round in Aachen in 2019. The highlight of their career was representing France at the European Championships in Rotterdam and the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
In 2022, the stallion moved to Pius Schwizer’s stables. In Herning, Vancouver placed 14th at the World Championships, and in 2023, Schwizer and the stallion finished sixth at the World Cup Final in Omaha.
